Paul Edward Horner, age 79, of Cleveland, TN, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 18, 2024. He was born on December 27, 1944, in Summerville, SC, to the late Tennie and John Horner. He was a member of Thompson Springs Baptist Church for several years. All who knew Paul loved him, he loved life, and enjoyed making people happy.
Paul grew up on Signal Mountain, TN, where he graduated from Red Bank High School, and following graduation, he worked for several years at Standard Iron in Chattanooga. He was also a "jack of all trades" including working as a carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Bobbi Elliott, Betty Griffith, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Horner; and grandson, David Evans.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 38 years, Martha Cole Horner; daughters, Lisa Evans (David) of Hixson, TN, Vonda Shoop (David) of Pensacola, FL, Renee Widener of Cunningham, TN, and Samantha Starcher (Ricky) of Georgetown, TN; sons, Ed Horner (Allison) of Ringgold, GA, Daniel Widener (Tonya) of Cumberland Furnace, TN, and John Horner of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Michael Evans, Lindsey Evans, Sarah Moore (Randall), Emily Gribble (Ben), Savanna Maciel, Gracie Pasters, Logan Pasters, Mitchell Horner (Roxanne), Maclaine Long, Tristen Widener, Maci Widener; great-grandchildren, Amelia Moore, Liana Moore, Caroline Gribble, Emerald Horner, Madeline Horner, and Evelyn Horner; siblings, Catherine Parker, Joann Mayes, Harriet Beitzel, Richard Horner (Elizabeth), David Horner, Dan Horner (Freda), and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family also survive. He will also be missed by his four-legged friends, Nicky, Julie, and Libby.
A private service to spread his ashes will be held at a later date for close friends and family.
