Paul Clarkson Young peacefully fell asleep in death on December 6, 2020 at his home in Kingston, Tennessee following a prolonged illness.
He was born on July 17, 1937 in O’Neill, Nebraska. After serving 3 years in the United States Air Force, he moved to Dayton, Ohio where he began a detailed study of the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses, leading to his baptism on March 12, 1966. Shortly thereafter, he married a fellow Witness, Sandra Sue Stump, on May 7, 1966, and together they served Jehovah God faithfully through the many joys and challenges of life. He found great joy in sharing the message of God’s Kingdom with all who would listen. He felt especially blessed to be a father, often saying that he knew that Jehovah loved him a lot because He gave him two beautiful girls, Beth and Renee. Paul was known and loved by many for his gentle, kind manner and his sweet smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alberta Young, brothers Larry and Kenny Young, sisters Inez and Janet Young, and infant daughter Mary Ann. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra Young of Kingston, Tennessee, his daughter and son-in-law Beth and Sterling Kauffman of Kingston, Tennessee, his daughter and son-in-law Renee and Chad Woznick of Phoenix, Arizona, his sister Carol Reimers of St. Paul, Nebraska and his sister and brother-in-law Luella and Robert Buetow of St. Paul, Nebraska.
The family wishes to thank RN Luanne (whom Paul affectionately named Nurse Whinny for their shared love of horses) and CNA Becky of Amedisys Hospice of Sweetwater, and Kaylonnah and Sabrina of Preferred Care at Home of East Tennessee for their attentive, gentle care during his final days.
A memorial service to be given via Zoom will be held on Sunday December 13, 2020 at 3pm and will be officiated by Brother Michael Van Tine of the Huber Heights Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Dayton, Ohio. The Zoom meeting ID will be provided to friends and family as arrangements are finalized. Cremation is being cared for by Companion Funeral & Cremation Services of Athens, Tennessee. You are encouraged to share a memory of Paul and/or your personal condolences with his family by visiting his memorial webpage and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com.
