Paul Donald Bruse, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on February 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 21, 1936, Paul lived a life defined by service, love, and a deep connection to both people and animals.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Paul served his country with honor and dedication. After his military service and supervisory career, he became small business owner in his community, working alongside his son. Paul's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 68 years, Reba June Bruse, whom he loved deeply and cherished every day. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
Paul was the proud father of three children: Ricky Paul Bruse (Valerie Bruse), Richie Donald Bruse (Teresa Bruse), and Paula Christina Dickerson (Brett Dickerson). He adored his grandchildren: Cameron Bruse, Hayley Lamping, April Osbeck, Dustin Bruse, Hannah Nauman, and Noah Dickerson, as well as his great-grandchildren: Dallas Streb, Carrie Streb, Katelyn Bruse, Chase Bruse, Alexis Nauman, Kylee Nauman, Eliana Nauman, Lily Bruse, Asher Bruse, Elsie Bruse, and Brody Lamping. Paul's love extended to his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Paul shared a special bond with his beloved siblings-in-law: Anita Griffis, Bonnie Fulks, Glenella Unger, Margaret Taylor, and his last surviving brother- in-law, David Griffis. He also adored his loyal companions, Nitro the dog and Tabby the cat.
Paul had a special place for every living creature. He was known for feeding squirrels, birds, and any wildlife that visited his home. His compassion extended to stray animals, whom he lovingly cared for whenever they crossed his path. Paul's sense of humor was infectious, and he had a knack for making everyone laugh. His love was genuine and deep, and he had a way of making those around him feel truly special. Whether it was singing his own rendition of "Happy Birthday" to the ones he loved, giving you a special nickname, creating memorable trips and experiences for his children and grandchildren, or being the ultimate host, Paul always made life brighter.
To know Paul was to love him. He made us all have very special memories of him and that speaks volumes to the person he truly was in his heart. We love you and will miss you beyond words.
