Patti Vastano

June 12, 1954 — December 3, 2024

Patti Rae Vastano, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 3, 2024, in McMinn County, Tennessee, at the age of 70. Born in Los Angeles County, California, on June 12, 1954, Patti was known for her free spirit and unwavering willingness to help anyone she saw in need, even at the cost of her own health and well-being.

She encountered many of life's formidable challenges early on, such as losing her mother at the tender age of 14 and becoming a mother herself by 15. Despite these trials, Patti's resilience shone brightly as she carved out a successful path as a professional typist for a private investigation firm, and later as a certified equine massage therapist. In the early 2000s, Patti opened her heart and home with "A Place for God's Kids," embodying her nurturing spirit.

Patti is remembered deeply by her family, survived by her brothers David Vastano and Joseph Vastano; sisters-in-law Candy Vastano and Sophie Vastano; her son Shane Dion Aflague and daughter-in-love Kellie Donovan; her daughter Sarah Lynn Turpin and son-in-law Michael Turpin; and her cherished grandchildren Chanea JeanaRose Aflague, Ezekiel Hayes Turpin, River Gene Turpin, and Levi Shane Turpin. She is also survived by her great-grandchild "RoseBud" Rosalie She was preceded in death by her beautiful mother Jean Elain Wright; her father Joseph Angelo Vastano; and her beloved son Shad Tavis Aflague.

Those who knew Patti will remember her zest for life, her profound appreciation for nature, and her devout spirituality. She taught countless people the joy of living life one moment at a time, savoring the beauty of God's creations. Known affectionately for her "Cowboy Church," she would often express her faith by singing and dancing in the pasture. Her love for the Pacific Ocean was endless; she would spend hours joyfully diving into the waves and swimming beyond the break.

Patti was authentic in every way and loved God with all her heart. Her spirit and love will forever be cherished and remembered by those who knew her.

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Englewood Church of God.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Patti or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Athens and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
