Pam Dietrich entered into rest peacefully on June 18, 2020 at her home in Cleveland, Tennessee. Born in Lockport, New York, Pam lived in a variety of places as a child, settling in Bristol, VA. She graduated from Virginia High School and subsequently from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1974.
She met her husband, Don, at Tennessee Wesleyan, later marrying him and settling in Cleveland, Tennessee. Professionally Pam was versatile, easily adapting to a variety of challenges. She began as a school teacher at Hopewell Elementary School; as motherhood called she transitioned to be an administrator for St. Lukes Episcopal Church, and ended her career in banking. However it was the critical role she played as a director for the 1996 Olympic Games on the Ocoee River that brought her the most joy because of the impact it had on her home town and region.
Pam had many interests. First and foremost she was a loving and inspirational mother to her two boys, Brian and Michael and a dedicated husband to Don. Together Pam and Don developed a love of the outdoors. Her leisure time was spent exploring US National Parks, hiking the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, and camping (usually with Don and her boys) on Balsam Mountain in the Smokies. Pam was also a talented seamstress. However, her greatest interests were her family and friends.
Pam is survived by her husband Don, son Brian (Erin), grandchildren Leyton and Henry of Nashville, son Michael of Cleveland, father Jim of Cleveland, sister Karen of Phoenix, AZ, and brother JP (Maria) of Greenville, SC.
A graveside memorial service for close family and friends, observing social distancing, will be held at 11:00am on June 29 at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Cleveland, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to St. Lukes Episcopal Church (320 Broad Street, NW, Cleveland, TN 37311) or Love Nancy (697 Blythewood Road, SW, Cleveland, TN 37311).
You are encouraged to share a memory of Pam and/or your personal condolences with her family by visiting her memorial webpage and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home has charge of these arrangements.
