Opal Dillard

July 22, 1920 — July 28, 2024

Opal Dillard, a longtime resident of Cleveland TN, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at the incredible age of 104 years old. Opal was surrounded by her loving family as she transitioned from her earthly home into her Heavenly home.

Opal has left behind several loved ones that miss her and think about her every day as they hold on to and cherish all of the wonderful memories that were made with her over her many years here on her earthly home. Opal was of Christian faith and is now celebrating with Jesus and her loved ones that went on before her. Opal's loved ones that she has left behind will find peace in the promise of God's word that we will all be reunited one glorious day in our Heavenly home.

Opal was preceded in death by her daughter, Susie Dillard and two sons, Paul and William Dillard. Opal has several children that had to say a very hard "see you later" to their mother which include her daughters along with their spouses Peggy (Danny) Prince, Carol (Ray) Cheathem, Ruth Johnson, and Gladys Barker and Opal's son and spouse Johnny (Rhonda) Dillard. Opal was known for her incredible strength as she raised seven children all on her own. She was a true example of a strong woman and hard worker to all those around her. She has instilled her strength, resilience, her work ethic and her love for Jesus in her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and so many others that were blessed to be in her life. Opal's legacy, life stories and memories made with loved ones will continue to be shared through her children, her 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren for many years to come.

The family will gather together at Companion Funeral Home to say their final earthy goodbye and then will proceed to Dill Cemetery for a graveside service led by Opal's pastors Ray Cheathem and Homer Roberts for everyone that would like to attend. Pallbearers will include some of Opal's grandchildren Nick Chastain, Chris Chastain, Tony Chastain, A.J. Chastain, Tim Dillard and Jeff Johnson. A special song, "I can't feel at home in this world anymore" will be led by grandson, Trae Calfee and great granddaughter, Kinsley Calfee. As we lay Opal also known as mom, mamaw, granny, nanny and sis to rest let this be a time to reflect on the importance of a family united together in love, grace, forgiveness, acceptance, and most of all a family united in Jesus.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Opal or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
