Norma Lee Guyer of Cleveland passed peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 12, after a brief battle with cancer. She had defeated cancer once before after a diagnosis in 2018.
Norma was born on April 10, 1945 in Reliance, Tennessee, and had just celebrated her 80th birthday with all of her children two days prior to her passing.
After retiring from Charleston Hosiery, Norma spent many years as a food service worker at several educational and health care facilities in Cleveland. She was known for her strong work ethic and dependability.
In addition to her parents, Arnold and Amanda Shahan, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Guyer, brother, Chelcie Shahan, and her sister, Frankie Rayfield.
She is survived by her brother, James Shahan, her children, Christy (Jim) Stansel of Cleveland, Teresa (Tony) Welch of Ringgold, Ken (Melissa) Guyer of Charleston, and Ronnie Walters of Cleveland. She also leaves behind five grandchildren; Amanda (Donovan) Levenhagen, Steven (Alejandra) Stansel, Breanne Guyer, Will Turner and Anna Turner, and one great-grandchild, Avi Guyer.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18 at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, with family receiving friends at 10 AM and a memorial service at 12 PM. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland.
