Nicky Nelson Akins Jr.

Nicky Nelson Akins Sr. 68, of Decatur, Tennessee passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022. Nicky was born on March 29, 1954, in Ooltewah, Tennessee to the late Raymond and Margaret Akins.

Along with his parents Nicky was preceded in death by his former wife, Betty Akins; his siblings, Annie Jo Neely, Ronnie Akins, Curtis Akins, and Eddie Akins; brothers in law, Johnny Harris, and Robert Talent; and his sister-in-law; Marion Akins.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Nicky Akins Jr., Amielia Akins, and James Akins; grandchildren, Jade Standridge, and Seth Akins; his siblings, Judy Harris, Becky Tallent, Ray (Rhonda) Akins, Glenn Akins, Clark (Rheda) Akins, Wayne (Lisa) Akins, and Keith (Carol) Akins; brother in law, Robert (Bud) Neely; his sisters in law; Charlotte Akins, and Karen Akins; along with a host of extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 2:00 pm At Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland with Reverend Guinn Green officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Peakland Baptist Church’s building fund located at 514 Peakland Road, Decatur, TN 37322.
