Nicholas Joseph Baker

March 5, 1950 — July 31, 2023

Nick “Sarge” Baker passed away peacefully at his residence in Rockwood, Tennessee on July 31st, 2023. He was 73 years of age. He is preceded in death by his father and mother. They are all in heaven together at this time. His two sisters, two brothers and their families survive.

Nick was a loving son, brother, and father. He loved his family, friends and anyone in need. Nick was a veteran who served two tours of duty in the US Army and later in the Tennessee Guard. He met his first wife, Cindy while on duty at Fort Riley, Kansas. He and his first wife had one daughter, Melanie, who survives. After his service in the US Army, he met his second wife, Mary, with whom he had a second daughter, Maria. She survives. Prior to Nick’s passing he married his third wife Christine who also survives.

Nick and Christine were active members of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Harriman, Tennessee. Nick was active in playing music for the church and other venues and loved to write and perform his own music. He played guitar, bass and percussion instruments and formed or was a part of a number of bands.

While living in Powell, Tennessee, Nick developed a Fish Ministry to provide food and support for the less fortunate and needy of his community. He was also a part of Family Promise, an organization that helps families of faith in need.

After Nick’s service to his country where he was a trained missile guidance technician, he was employed by Xerox and other printer/plotter/copier organizations as a field service representative and repair provider. Nick traveled the country assisting various organizations with their technical needs and was a well-respected technician.

The funeral will be held at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, on Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at 2:00 pm EDT. The service will honor Nick’s life and his commitment to helping others. His request was to be cremated with his ashes distributed at the Saint Andrews Memorial Garden. Nick is expected to have a military honor guard at his ceremony. A post-service lunch and get-together will be held at the Saint Andrews after the memorial service. Donations in Nick’s honor may be made to Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, 190 Circle Drive, Harriman, TN.
