Obituary

Nella Dean (Maze) Hughes went to her heavenly home January 14, 2015. She was surrounded by her loved ones and special friends. Dean was a very outgoing person and loved to play cards and games she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was born in Arab Alabama September 2 1935; she is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Max Hughes, her parents Era and E.B Maze, Brothers. Lowell & J.W. Maze. Survivors include Son and daughter in law Max and Lisa Marie Hughes, Daughter Denee Maxine Hughes. Beloved Grandson Trey Hughes and chosen grandson Dalton Hodgson, Paw babies Ruby, Petunia and Several nieces, nephews and many special friends and dear friend Nora Carpenter. Dean was of the Baptist faith. She graduated from Business College in Gadsden Alabama and worked as an accountant for many years with the US Government. In her early years she had a passion for youth and organized the first bowling league for special needs in Illinois. She also served in many roles on the board for the Cahokia parents group for the handicapped. In her later years she was a founding member of the Recycled Teen agers and entertained all over the Southeast. She was also involved for many years in the Mrs. Etowah County Pageants.

A celebration of her life is planned for Sunday, January 18th, 2015 at 3:00 PM CST at the Morgan Funeral Chapel located at 625 Gilbert Ferry Road in Attalla, AL. Interment will follow in the Southside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:30 PM CST until the 3:00 PM service time.
