He trained and served as an aviation mechanic and was stationed in India for most of the war. After the war he was employed by Hardwick Stove as a foreman. During this time he took up golf and was quite an avid golfer. Besides his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Ledbetter Boehmer of 57 years; brothers: Flavius Boehmer and Grady Boehmer; sister: Macon Marie Boehmer. Hugh is survived by his sisters: Melba Caylor, Gelene Tribble (Stanley), Lois Sherlin, Montez Ellison and Thelma Hall; brother: Eldron Boehmer, Sr. (Jeannie); and a host of nieces, and nephews and loved ones.
