Nancy McCoy

December 12, 1951 — September 9, 2023

Nancy Carol McCoy, a woman of strength and resilience, passed away on September 9, 2023, at the age of 71. Originally from Tennessee, Nancy embarked on a remarkable journey on July 3, 1976 with her beloved husband, Jim McCoy in Florida, to start a family. Later, in 1993, they decided to move to the mountains of Tennessee in order to embrace a simpler life off the grid.

Survived by her devoted spouse Jim McCoy, Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is also survived by her cherished sons, Nathan Timothy McCoy and Joel Isaac McCoy, and her adoring grandchildren, Aiva Elise McCoy, Aurora Silvia McCoy, Elijah Candler McCoy, and Josie Hayes McCoy.

Nancy was a compassionate soul with a heart for animals, rescuing and nursing countless strays back to health. Her creativity knew no bounds, as she delighted in arts and crafts, woodworking, sewing, and reading. She found joy in the rhythms of Hebrew dance and the art of canning. For two decades, she dedicated her time to volunteering at The Better Living Center, leaving an indelible mark on the community. Her commitment to a minimalist lifestyle was a testament to her values.

A memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held on September 24th, 2023, at the Athens Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 230 New Englewood Road, Athens, TN, beginning at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Better Living Center of Athens in Nancy's memory, continuing her legacy of selflessness and care for the community she held dear.
