Nancy Laverne "Wooten" Cross

Obituary

Nancy Laverne "Wooten" Cross a lifelong resident of Cleveland passed away on May 9th, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Nancy is preceded in death by her father and mother James Vernon Wooten and Stella Toleda Horn Wooten. She was of the Church of God faith. Nancy served as clerk for more than twenty five years until her sickness forced her retirement. She courageously suffered with Parkinson Disease for over twenty years. Nancy played the piano, guitar and accordion and lover her church very much. She was also involved in the historical branch of the Library and also helped to write the Heritage of Bradley County book. She loved genealogy , it was one of her passions.

Nancy leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of fifty four years Winford "Junior" Cross, two daughters Lisa George and her husband Roy and Kristie Grady and her companion Danny L. Matthews, two grandsons Jonathan George and his wife Jessica and Joshua Tyler Grady and his companion Shara F. Cronan of Benton, two great grandchildren Riley George of Cleveland and Tyler Cronan of Benton. She is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law Mike and Cindy Wooten, one nephew Brandon Wooten, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Carl & Janice Ruth, Theresa Cresman, James & Tammy Pell, Moses & Billie Moore, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend Phyllis Castello . The family would like to thank Nancy's caregiver Alishia Monrroy for the excellent care she provided Nancy and the family.

The family will receive friends on Sunday night, May 11th, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Lakeview Church of God located at 105 Lakeview Drive SE in Cleveland, TN.

A celebration of her life is planned for Monday, May 12th, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Lakeview Church of God with Brother Dustin Wilds and Brother Terry Burns officiating. Music will be provided by Donna Burns and Tom Castello. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Jim Rayfield, Tony Burns, Tom Collins, David Creasman, Jonathan George and Tyler Grady serving as pallbearers.
