Nancy Headlee

Nancy Headlee,88, went home to be with Jesus on November 29, 2024. Nancy aka Granny is survived by three children Roberta (Dale) Kirchhoff, Michael (Marcella) Headlee and Linda Headlee plus four grandchildren Brandon, Brandy, Bryan and Coraline and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Robert Walker Headlee, grandson Seth Ivan Walker Kirchhoff as well as her parents and five brothers and sisters. Nancy is also survived by her very special and closest friend Mary. Nancy and Mary were like sisters and shared many adventures together.

Nancy was born June 10, 1936, and grew up in Summercity on the Pikeville side of Dayton Mountain where she spent her childhood with her parents and siblings. When she was 18 years old, she moved to Dayton where she met Bob. Bob and Nancy were married in 1956 and soon after started their family.

Nancy was a farmer's wife until the death of Bob in 1989. However, her most important role was babysitter for many of the kids in our community. It was not uncommon for her to have up to eight children under her care before and after school. Many parents depended on her to watch over their kids while at work. Nancy always took this responsibility very seriously, but was also able to show each and every child her very nurturing side. It is safe to say she was loved by all.

After moving to Chattanooga, Nancy became very involved with her church, Ridgeline Church of God, where she made many special friends. She loved to listen to gospel music and she was an avid reader. Nancy loved being at home, but was able to experience far away places while reading. One of her favorite things was to play trivia games where she would always win because she had gathered so much knowledge from her reading.

Companion Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. No traditional visitation, but a memorial service will be held for Nancy within the near future.
