Murray Brinton "Britt" Smith, Jr.

April 25, 1941 — February 27, 2020

Murray Brinton “Britt” Smith, Jr., of Chattanooga, passed away on February 27, 2020 at assisted living while in hospice care. He was a lifelong resident of the area born on April 25, 1941. Britt was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had an artistic nature which included painting, sketching, woodworking and building and flying RC planes. He loved God and used his gifts to glorify God in his way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Meda Smith McBee and Murray Brinton Smith, Sr.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Caroline Smith; son, Michael Lebron Smith; stepsons, Jeff (Jenny) Shoop and Michael (Mel) Baxter; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5, 2020, from 10:00AM until 12:00PM at the First Baptist Church of Chattanooga located at 401 Gateway Avenue in Chattanooga, TN. A private burial will take place at a later date.

You are invited to share a memory of Britt or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at Companion Funeral Home and the Cody Family are honored to assist the Smith family with these arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga in his honor.
