Mike Olinger

January 6, 1951 — January 9, 2022

William Michael Olinger, 71, of Georgetown, TN, passed away at home with the love of his life, Sue by his side after battling illness for several months. Throughout his health battles, she never left his side-the true definition of a lifelong love. Mike was born January 6, 1951, to the late Warren Vincent and Mildred McAlister in Marion, Virginia.

Mike was a member of Mt. Olive Ministries Church and loved hunting, bluegrass music, picking guitar and mandolin with friends. He worked (retired from)-Olin chemical for over 40 years & was a huge supporter of local law enforcement where he was a reserve deputy w the Bradley Co Sheriff’s Office for over 30yrs. His greatest accomplishment in life was his family (of which he was quick to brag about to anyone that he came in contact with) and especially his “Dude”-his grandson Aiden, the 2 had a bond that was something truly special. Mike loved family get togethers.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Kristopher M. Olinger; father-in-law, Calvin Lee Castle; special companion-dog, Buddy.

Survived by his loving wife, Gloria Sue Olinger; son, Todd Vintson (Amber) Olinger; siblings, Dixie Sheets and David (Lesa) Olinger; grandchildren, Aiden Todd Olinger (Hope Victoria Withrow); mother-in-law, Bessie “Pete” Castle; special friends, Tom & Becky Allison; special TN parents, Leon & Glenda Scoggins; special cousins, Trenton “Punk” Doane ; special family, Patty and Gary Leonard; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM, Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Mt Olive Ministries. A celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 14, 2022, at Mt. Olive Ministries with Pastor James and Gary Sears officiating. Burial will be held at Earls Cemetery with Todd Olinger Aiden Olinger, Don Woodall, Lynn West, Braden Malone, Aaron Hunsucker, Tim Mullins, Tyler Dooley, Jamie Castle. Honorary pallbearers, David Olinger, Gary Leonard, Leon Scoggins, Tom Allison, Joey Reed, and Jimmy Lee Castle. The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office will also be in attendance to honor the life of Mike Olinger.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Olive Youth Ministries in memory of Mike Olinger or in honor of Aiden Olinger.
