With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Michael "Mike" Dailey, a devoted husband, cherished father, beloved grandfather, and a man who left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him. Mike transitioned from this world on August 18, 2023, in Rocky Face, GA, at the age of 73, surrounded by the warmth of his family's love.
Mike is survived by his wife, Debra Martin, his children Dionne Jones (Cory Jones), Chris Martin (Julian Martin), Monica Thomas (Brian Thomas), Danielle Mullis (Tommy Mullis), and Brandon DiBois (Melissa DiBois), his grandchildren Waverly, Adaline, Houston, Leonna, Beth, Brook, Lindsay, Alex, and Jordon, his great-grandchildren Briar, Stella, and Weston, and brother, cousins, and other assorted family and many caring friends.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Eugene "Pete" Dailey, his mother, Ruth Dailey, his sisters, Nancy Kelley, Pat D'Alexander, and Yvonne Llewellyn.
Born on October 3, 1949, in Fairfax, VA, to Eugene "Pete" Dailey and Ruth Dailey, Mike's journey through life was a testament to strength, passion, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. At a very young age, he knew how to push buttons and break the rules. This led him to Toccoa, GA at the age of 16, where he met his first wife and had three children. Many years after living in Toccoa, Mike eventually met Debra Martin, his partner in life of 42 years. Together, he helped raise her son and eventually brought another daughter into the world. Mike was Debra's rock, and her personality perfectly complemented his.
Mike was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was hardworking, loyal, and brave. Mike's heart found its true purpose in his children and grandchildren. He looked forward to visits from his grandchildren and spoiled them with "sweets" every chance he could. But beyond his family, the rumble of a race car or motorcycle engine brought a twinkle to his eye. He enjoyed riding his Harley along the mountains and backroads of North Georgia and hardly missed a NASCAR race on Sunday. Now, may he find eternal rest, his spirit forever riding free beneath open skies.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 3 at 1:00pm, a fitting tribute to a life well-lived, at the Venue at Westside, 596 Lafayette Rd Rocky Face, GA 30740. Let us gather to remember, to share stories, and to honor the legacy of a man whose love knew no bounds. Final Arrangements have been entrusted to Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, Chattanooga Chapel.
