Michael “Mike” Scott Miller, 55, of Georgetown, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at a local hospital surrounded by his Open Arms Care family and friends. Mike was born on January 27, 1968, in Morristown, Tennessee to Janice Ann Miller and Everette Strange. Mike lived at Greene Valley Development Center in Greenville, Tennessee from May of 1968 – March of 1980. At the age of 14, Mike was placed at a children’s group home at the Ft. Sanders Developmental Center in Knoxville, Tennessee until its closing in 1985. He was later placed into foster care in Lenoir City and attended the Michael Dunn Center in Knoxville, Tennessee where he graduated from in 1990. After graduation, he began the Loudon County Adult Community Training Center. Mike was admitted to Open Arms Care in Ooltewah, Tennessee in August of 1991 where he resided until his passing.
Mike was quick to reach out to his friends for hand holding and clapping. He would often reward you with that winning smile! Mike enjoyed his coffee, trips to Ocoee, road trips to Atlanta, playing his drums, and rock music. His favorite band was Aerosmith, and his favorite song was “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” Mike also enjoyed swinging, sensory hand massages, and sweats. His favorite thing to do was going home with his Open Arms Care friends during holidays.
Mike was an amazing individual with a huge smile and joy in his soul, he was loving and kind. Mike will be truly missed by his Open Arms Care family.
