Michael Wayne Haggard, 73, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on April 11, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 9, 1952 in Fort Benning, Georgia, Mike grew up in Chattanooga and lived a life rooted in hard work, love for family, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life.Mike dedicated over 40 years of his career to the Planters-Mars Wrigley company, where his strong work ethic and quiet reliability made a lasting impression. He had a remarkable memory and a curious mind-he seemed to know something about almost everything and was always willing to share his knowledge with others.
He found his truest joy in being a father, and was deeply proud of all of his daughter's accomplishments. He liked time spent with extended family sharing good food at cookouts, holidays and special celebrations.Mike also loved the beach, boats, and the peacefulness of just being near the water. Whether it was a sunny day by the coast, a walk through a local park, or sharing a story with loved ones, he knew how to appreciate the moment. His tenacious spirit and resolve will be missed by all who knew him.
Mike's faith in Jesus was central to the strength he showed in life. He "fought the good fight and did not give up the faith." Mike now joins his brother, Claude, and parents Leonard and Betty Haggard who preceded him into the church triumphant.
Family left to contemplate his memory are: daughter, Megan Haggard (Will) Hunter, grandson, Ewan; brother, Larry (Cherie) Haggard; honorary brother, Ronnie (Barbara) Nelson; nieces Joy (Denny) Heddleson and Jessica (Jeremy) Clark; nephews Jay (Shane) Haggard, Jon (Ashley) Haggard, Bill (Katie) Nelson and Ronnie (Paula) Nelson, Justin (Sue) Higdon, and Will (Emily)Johnson; and several great nieces and nephews along with special friends and extended family.
