Merle Hembree

Merle Edward Hembree passed on April 15, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born November 30, 1936 in Harlan County, KY to the late Clyde Hembree and Myrtle Philpot Hembree. Merle loved his family, and was so proud of each of them. He was also a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and his faith was very important to him.

In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his son Michael Hembree; daughter in law Jacqueline Hembree; brother Donald Colman Hembree; sister Brenda Gayle Hembree Self; and sisters-in-law Phyllis Hembree, Dorothy Hembree, and Janice Hembree.

Merle leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 68 years, Minna Lee Hembree; children: Sheila Hembree Jones (Richard) and their daughter Rebecca Bell, Timothy Hembree (Denise) and their daughter Jewell Colyer, Steven Hembree (Deb) and their children: Daniel Hembree, Anthony Hembree, Aaron Hembree, Daniel Hembree (Anna) and their son Nathan Hembree; daughter in law Gloria Hembree and Michael Jacqueline's children Kelly Hembree and Jason Hembree; brother James Clyde Hembree and Gary David Hembree (Nellie); sister Sue Hembree Cheek (James Robert); brother in law Jerry Self.

In addition to these, he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

His family will receive friends from 2pm until 3pm on Friday April 19th at Hopewell Church of God with a service to follow at 3pm. He will be laid to rest following the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
