Melissa Ann Woodard, born August 8, 1968, in Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully May 12, 2025, in Tennessee of cancer. She leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted partner Wayne Woodard, her daughters Michaela Runyan and Victoria Wilcoxon and her son Justin Lassiter. Melissa was a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren, including Casey Runyan Jr., Daniel Witt, Peggy Runyan, Earl Runyan, Ian Wilcoxon, Emily Runyan, and Charles Lassiter. She is remembered fondly by her sons-in-law, Casey Runyan Sr. and Robert Wilcoxon.

Melissa was a strong, charming woman. A valued employee of the Meigs County Board of Education in the food services industry. Her warm meals and nurturing spirit brought comfort to countless students and staff. Outside of work, Melissa had a deep love for the great outdoors, relishing time spent in nature and sharing these experiences with her family. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply, creating countless unforgettable memories together.

The legacy of Melissa's love, warmth, and zest for life will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Her spirit will forever be a part of the hearts she touched, reminding everyone to embrace the joys of life and the beauty of nature. She will be deeply missed, but her memories will be celebrated by her family and friends in the years to come.

Melissa was preceded in death by: Her Parents Lawrence Teal, Mary Teal and grandson Kaylan Lane Runyan.

Services to celebrate Melissa will be Monday, May 19, 2025, at Companion Funeral Home Original Chapel. The family will greet friends beginning at Noon until the service at 2:00.
