Obituary

Maude Gibson Chubb, 88 passed away on Wednesday morning, October, 29th, 2014 surrounded by her family. Maude had made her home in Cleveland since July 2001. She was a wonderful. loving and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and faithful wife.

Maude was the daughter of the late Joseph E. Gibson and Rachel George Gibson. She was member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Maude was a retired teller from Sun Trust Bank of Maitland, Florida. Her three most enjoyable hobbies were reading about political figures, gardening and watching the cooking shows; especially Paula Deen. Maude was a resident at Morningside of Cleveland, for the last two years.

Family members who preceded her in death were: Joe E. Gibson, her father, Rachel George Gibson, her mother, William "Bill" Gibson, her brother, Donald L. Chubb, Jr., her son who was killed in an auto accident at age 27, R. Larry Swafford, her son-in-law, and Dr. Donald L. Chubb, Sr. her husband of thirty years.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, Joanne Balmer Swafford, her daughter, of Cleveland, Joseph W. Gibson (Helen), her brother & wife, of Lexington, SC, Jimmy Balmer, her only grandchild, and his wife Lori, of Cleveland, two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Caroline Balmer, three nephews, Randy Gibson of Lexington, SC, Karl Chubb (Judy), of Orland, and Marco Chubb, of Scottsboro, AL, one niece, Diana Chubb Waldrop ( Myran) of Canton, GA, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, November 1st, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW with the Reverend Carolyn Braddy officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the 3:00 PM service time.

The interment and graveside service will take place on Monday, November 3rd, 2014 at 9:00 AM in the Palm Cemetery in Winter Park, FL.
