Mattie Watson

March 24, 1943 — November 8, 2023

Mattie Sue "Tood" Brock Watson, passed away at her residence surrounded by family on November 8, 2023 at the age of 80. She was born and raised in Englewood, TN. As a young adult she moved to Connersville, IN where she became a nurse while caring for her family. She later retired and returned to Etowah, TN. She loved reading, crocheting, knitting, flowers collecting rabbits, cardinals and her rings.

She was stubborn, sassy and never afraid to speak her mind. If she loved you, you knew it, but if she didn't like you, you would also know. She is of Baptist faith and a member of the North Etowah Baptist Church for the last 28 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Rual Watson, her daughter, Sue (Joe) McMurray of Etowah, TN, son, Bill Watson of Etowah, TN, daughter, Mary Jo (Dave) Lamb of Etowah, TN, daughter in-law, Melody Watson of Morristown, TN and son, James R. Watson of Etowah, TN; 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Amos David Brock of Madisonville, TN, sisters, Betty Derrick of Englewood, TN, Joy Evans of Winder, GA; brothers, Johnny Brock of Athens, TN and Donald Brock of Athens, TN. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Fannie Mae Jo Brock; son, James "BO" W. Watson; sisters, Henretta Tallent, Brenda Burnette; daughter in-laws, Theresa Watson and Maria Watson.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mars Hill Cemetery in Englewood, TN
