Mattie Mason

Mattie Sue Hester Mason, 76, of Riceville, peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 16, 2024, surrounded by her family.

The youngest of eight, Sue was born on June 18, 1947, to William H. Hester and Mattie Mae (Kirby) Hester. She was raised in the Athens area, Key West, Florida and graduated from high school in O'Fallon , Missouri.

Sue was the Area Manager for Mr. Zip Convenience Stores for many years before teaming with her husband as an OTR Driver for 20 years.

Sue is remembered as a strong woman who was very generous. She always put her family first and was a loving grandmother. She loved sitting outside watching her hummingbirds and the wildlife. The phone calls to her grandchildren telling them about the animals she saw daily will greatly be missed.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, William H. Hester and Mattie Kirby Hester; brothers, Everett, Troy, Billy Joe, Leon Hester; sisters, Dorothy Smith, Ruth Moore and Thelma Varnes.

Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 56 years, Bobby Mason; son, Tony Mason (wife, Pat); daughter, Sharon Bienvenu (husband, Robert); grandchildren, Brett Bienvenu and Claire Bienvenu; special cousin, Sue Wallace and best friend, Brenda Metz.

The Funeral will be a private ceremony with only immediate family members present.
