Mary-Jo Rose Sherlin, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, March 28, 2022.

Mary-Jo was born December 20, 1931, to the late Grady and Alma Frazier Rose. She loved her church family at South Cleveland Church of God, where she was a member for over 71 years. She retired after 32 years of service from Cleveland Utilities, Cleveland, TN. She enjoyed flower arranging and writing poetry. She had poetry published in the National Library of Poetry. Her greatest joy in life was in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Allen; sisters Evelyn Vestal, Frances Woody, and Loy Baxter; brothers Charles Rose and Kenneth Rose.

She leaves a large family behind to cherish her memory. Husband: D.A. Sherlin with 71 years of marriage; Children: Deanna Chastain, Joel (Belinda) Sherlin. Grandchildren: Dustin (Theresa) Chastain, Duran (Trish) Sherlin, Keeonna (Aaron) Wood, Skylar (Tricia) Sherlin, Kassidy (Joel) Moody. Great-grandchildren: Austin (Abbie), Chace, and Chloe Allen; Nikki Loftis, Ashlyn and Aayden Wood; Aubrey, Camden, Eliza and Shaddix Sherlin; Palmer and Henley Jo Moody. Great-Great-Grandchild: Easton Allen.

Siblings: Sisters, Polly Hooker, Billie (Jerry) Wilson, Connie (Frank) Redman; Brother, Jimmy (Cathy) Rose.

A Graveside Celebration of Life Remembrance is planned for Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, with Pastor Edwin Lipsey, South Cleveland Church of God officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend.
