Mary E. Sasser, age 84, of Madisonville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 6, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis and heart disease.

Born on December 29, 1940, in Belltown, Tennessee, Mary was the daughter of the late Berry and Irene Bivens. She was a devoted member of Madisonville First Baptist Church and exemplified strength and faithfulness throughout her life. Those who knew her best remember her as a true prayer warrior whose faith never wavered.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Alberta Adams, Alma Jean Stephens, and Wanda McMillan; and her brothers JD Bivens, Bruce Bivens, and Boyce Bivens.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her children Denis Lee (Carlene), Denise Lee, Shelley Calhoun (Mark), and Joey Sasser (Kim); her grandchildren Delaney Calhoun (Brady King), Bane Calhoun, and Dru Sasser; her beloved great-granddaughter Lorelai Calhoun-King, who brought her morning smiles; her granddog Charlie; her sister Cheryl Piltz (Jack); and special nieces Jama Peterson and Renee McCulloch.

"She is clothed in strength and dignity...... her children arise and call her blessed."

Mary's strength in the face of adversity and her unwavering faith have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her legacy of love, devotion to family, and spiritual dedication will continue to inspire everyone whose lives she touched.

The family would like to say a special thank you to her daughter, Denise, who provided excellent care to our mom for several years. A special thank you to Lexi, Bethany, Johnny, Brent and Becca from Adoration Hospice. The love and care they showed to mom in her last days exceeded our expectations.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Companion Funeral Home is serving the family.
