Mary Pemberton

Mary Sue (Skyles) Pemberton of Athens, TN went home to her Lord on October 26, 2023. She was born on April 12, 1950, and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Sweetwater, TN.

She married Howard James Pemberton on February 14, 1976. Mary follows into rest her mother Velma Nelson Skyles of South Pittsburg, TN and her father J. W. Skyles of Dunlap, TN, one sister Brenda Lee Skyles and four brothers Billy, Paul, J. L., and Bobby.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter Lisa Pemberton of Cleveland, TN, one son James Pemberton of Indiana, 2 granddaughters Makayla Alvarenga, who was Mary's caregiver until her passing and Veronica Pemberton of Cleveland, TN, one great grandson Brandon Robertson, one great granddaughter Sofia Grace Robertson both of whom she loved dearly. Mary is also survived by brothers and their wives Bill, James, Shirley and Carolyn, Alice Pemberton of Georgia, and Patsy and Jay Hutchinson of South Pittsburg, TN, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

She loved her church family, her pastor and his wife Keith & Casey Wilcox and their family. Mary also loved her special friend of over 30 years Karen Turner. Karen was so special in Mary's life.

A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church located at 105 County Road 313 Sweetwater, TN.
