Mary Jo Sliger, 89, of Cleveland, TN passed away on March 25, 2021. She was born on October 20, 1931 to the late Alvin and Wilma Johnson. Mary Jo was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Stanfield Baptist Church. One of Mary’s favorite hobbies was Ballroom Dancing and reading.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband Maurice “Mote” Sliger; brother Raymond Eugene “Sonny” Johnson; brother Gary Wayne Johnson, and sister Joyce “Tad” Melton.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her niece Nichole Geren (Eric) and their children: Jessi Whaley (Ethan) and Emma Grace Geren; nephews: Mike Johnson (Terry) and their children Joshua Johnson (Erin) and Christopher Johnson; Ricky Johnson (Betsy) and their children Bailey Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson; Zach Johnson; Steve Melton; and Jeff Melton and his children Reed Melton and Sydney Melton.
A celebration of Mary Jo’s life will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday March 28, 2021 at Stanfield Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 4:00pm prior to the service. She will be laid to rest following the service at Lebanon Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
