Marci Hanshaw

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Mary "Marci" Jones Hanshaw left this earthly live to be in heaven with her Savior, Jesus Christ. Even though she was 84, this sudden departure has left her husband, Bob, her family, and a host of friends stunned. But I promise you, she wouldn't return after finding the joy of being in heaven. How special would it be to celebrate Christmas in heaven?

Marci was a member of Westwood Baptist Church; she and Bob valued their worship time at church and home. She had a special spot in her heart for the "Friendly Sunday School" class at First Baptist Church.

Marci is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dora Frazier; son, Michael Jones, and also a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and JoAnn Frazier. Although Marci never had any children of her own, the following have always considered her as "Mom" - Jayne (Danny) Smith, Patti Goldsbury, Cindy (Keith) Peels, David Hanshaw and Melissa Martin, all of Cleveland. Also surviving are sisters Dixie Heaberlin, Youngstown, Ohio and Louise (Wayne) Stephens, Grayson, KY; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

I would be remiss if I failed to mention Marci's Berea College classmates (7) who stuck together, meeting somewhere around the country every year until recently. The last is Sandra Snider of Lakeland, TN. Marci and Sandra had a bond like two sisters and really considered themselves to be sisters. They have been close friends for many years.

Marci attended Berea College and graduated from Tusculum University. She was on the Board of Directors for The Boys & Girls Club for several years. Marci retired from Dr. Scholl's Footcare Products as Manager of Human Resources. The employees of Dr. Scholl's had great respect for Marci's work ethic and her handling of employee issues.

A celebration of Marci's life will be held on Friday January 3, 2025 at 6pm at the "Ridge Chapel" of Companion Funeral Home located at 2412 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. Her family will receive friends from 4pm until the 6pm service. Rev. Jim Gibson and Dr. Steve Smartt will be officiating the service.
