Mary Goodner Sims Hope

Obituary
Mary Goodner Sims Hope, 75, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday morning, June 7th, 2013 in a Chattanooga hospital. Mary was born on August 7th, 1937 a daughter of the late Curtis and Edith Goodner. She was of the Church of God faith. Mary worked for many years in the Cleveland area working for Jack’s Clean Rite, Cleveland Laundry and Cleaners, and also Roy’s Cleaners. Mary loved attending church and singing gospel songs wherever she was at.
In addition to her parents Mary is preceded in death by three brothers Curtis Jr., Jimmy and Tommy Goodner.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of forty five years James Hope, three daughters Barbara Blackwell and husband Terry, Darlene Padgett and husband Kenny of Nashville, TN and Frenda Sims of Decatur, TN, one son Jeff Sims and wife Debbie, five grandchildren Stacy, David, Josh, Little David and Shane, four great grandchildren, two sisters Wilma Martin Kaylor (Clyde) and Ruby DeFriese four brothers Frank Goodner, Ronnie Goodner (Jaunita), Benny Goodner (Glayds) of Houston, TX and Johnny Goodner of Athens, TN and special caregivers Sue and Katherine. Mary is also survived by numerous other extended family members and friends.
A graveside service is planned for Sunday, June 9th, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the McInturff Cemetery in Birchwood, TN with the Reverend Guinn Green officiating. The family will receive friends in the parlor of Companion Funeral & Cremation Service located at 2415 Georgetown Road from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at which time we will leave to process to the cemetery for the 3:00 PM graveside service.
