Mary Estella Howell

Mary Estella Howell, 77, a resident of Athens, TN passed away on Wednesday morning, July 3, 2019 in a local hospital. She was born in Maryville, TN on May 26, 1942 a daughter of the late James Theodore Chapman and Myrtle Jane Chapman. Mary was a former employee of Sweetwater Hospital and a member of Union McMinn Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by an infant sister Anice Chapman, sister Nellene Chapman Hicks, brother Eugene Chapman and brother in law Jimmy Nelson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons Keith Kerley and his wife Tammy and Gary Howell; one sister Janice Nelson, brother in law Kenneth Hicks, three grandchildren Hannah Kerley, Lexie Howell and Colton Howell, one great grandchild Jeremiah Spencer, special longtime friend Johnnie Breeden, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, July 8, 2019 at 7:00 PM in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street with the Reverend Doug Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Operation Christmas Child through the Union McMinn Baptist Church. There will be a card and donation box at the memorial service or you can mail your donation to Union McMinn Baptist Church P. O. Box 269 Niota, TN 37826.
