Obituary
Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Johnson, 91, a resident of Ooltewah and a former resident of Cleveland passed away on Thursday night January 26, 2012.
Betty was born on October 10, 1920 in Orlando FL a daughter of the late James and Mary Slemons. Betty sent the majority of her adult life in Jamaica where she owned and operated her own Batik art business. Betty moved back to the Cleveland area approximately 17 years ago to live near her daughter and son-in-law and later moved with them to Ooltewah.
In addition to being a very talented and gifted artist Betty will be most remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, Betty is also preceded in death by her first husband Jack Michaels, after being widowed she remarried Benneth Johnson which also precedes her in death, and two brothers Bill Slemons and Jim Slemons.
She leaves her to cherish her memory two sons Rick Michaels of Tampa FL, Mark Johnson and wife Donna of New Smyrna Beach, FL, three daughters Angela Michaels of Ft. Lauderdale FL, Robin DeComas and husband Rafael of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and Dr. Marlene Catanese and husband Bob of Ooltewah TN, eight grandchildren and six great grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
The family plans to hold a private memorial service later in the spring in Florida.
