Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Chase, 80, passed away gracefully and peacefully at her Cleveland family home on Saturday, December 7, 2019.
Betty was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Harrison Cotham of Humboldt, TN.
She is survived by her three children: Beth Bucellatto (Joe) of Arab, AL; Lili Houchens (Steve) of Charlottesville, Va., and Lans Chase (Drea) of Acworth, GA; grandchildren: Sarah Beth Clayton (Kyle), Chase Ramsey (Andrea), Ruby, Ellie and Camille Houchens, Landon Chase; great-grandsons; Wyatt Clayton and Owen Ramsey; great grand-daughter Hayes Clayton; brother Dr. Mack Kerley; sisters Harrison Cotham and Sally Griggs; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and June Chase; and several nieces and nephews.
A bright light in the lives of many was extinguished with the unexpected loss of Betty. Her beloved husband Jimmy (deceased), many best friends, Friday Night Group, and immediate and extended family provided great comfort, joy and laughter to Betty throughout her life. Days by the pool, beach trips, family vacations and family holidays shared with the many Dean Chases provided great memories that will be shared and remembered fondly forever. Betty worked with Rodgers Group for more than forty years right up to her passing. She was a communicant of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where she was active in the Caring and Sharing Ministry and the Altar Guild. Her class, style, gentleness, shared laughter, and love for her family are greatly treasured and admired by her loved ones.
The family will receive friends for visitation at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church from 12:30PM to 2PM on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019 with a memorial service to immediately follow. Betty will be laid to rest with Jimmy at Fort Hill cemetery in Cleveland, TN.
`In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (www.stlukescleveland.org).
