Mary Burns Porter

Mary Burns Porter, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away on Friday March 3rd 2017, at the age of 93. Mary was born in Norwich, CT on November 2nd 1923. A graduate of New York University and the Bellevue School of Nursing, she married Charles Raymond Porter of Unionville, CT on July 19th 1947. The couple had three sons: Kevin Douglas, Keith Allen, and Charles Raymond III. A devoted wife and mother, Mary enjoyed traveling and supporting her children’s educational and sporting activities. She enjoyed playing golf, playing bridge, and loved her Atlanta Braves!

Mary is survived by her three sons: Kevin Douglas Porter, Keith Allen Porter, and Charles Raymond Porter III; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Raymond Porter and her sisters Mrs. Francis Hastedt of Norwich, CT and Ms. Bertha Burns of Hartford, CT.

The Memorial Service and Celebration of her life will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 7301 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421 at 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 11th 2017. The visitation will be from 3:00 pm-3:50 pm at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church, Chattanooga TN.
