Marvin “Wormy” E. Humphreys, 88, of Old Fort passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Friday, December 6, 2019.
He was born on October 13, 1931 in James County, TN. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. He worked for Ernest Holmes Wrecker & Mounting Company and retired from Bingham and Guy Roofing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and telling stories. He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Minnie Robinson Humphreys; father- and mother-in-law, Amos and Alta Montgomery; brothers: Floyd, Bill, Jack, and Charles; sisters: Zelma (Cecil) Dill and Amanel (Chester) Dill; and nephew: Kenneth (Judy) Dill.
He is survived by his son, Mitchell (Juliah) Humphreys; daughter, Bethany (Nathan) Hooker; grandchildren: Taylor, Chelsey (Will), Jacob, Jared, and Sarah; 3 great-grandchildren: Sutton, Rayce, and Rawlings; sister, Lillian Barrett; brother, David Humphreys; numerous nieces and nephews; mother of his children, Linda Humphreys; and longtime friends: Danny Frazier and Burl Dill.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11th from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. with funeral following at Beech Springs Baptist Church, 2328 Horns Creek Road, Old Fort, TN 37362 with Jerry Campbell, Kinzel Hooker, and Larry Humbard officiating.
Graveside service with military honors will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 12 with interment in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
