Marilyn Lee Atchley, born on July 20, 1953, in Sweetwater, Tennessee, peacefully departed this world on December 29, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family at her home in Riceville, Tennessee. A devoted mother, cherished "Granmommy," and a woman of profound faith, Marilyn's impact on those who knew her was immeasurable.

Marilyn is survived by her loving daughter, Misty (Greg) Black, and her cherished grandchildren: Macy Dobbs of Murrieta, California, Austin Dobbs of Cleveland, TN, and Alex Dobbs (Fiancée Madison Robinson) of Sweetwater, Tennessee. Marilyn's legacy extends further with great-grandchildren Huxton Dobbs, Hanna and Robert Black. She was a sister by heart to Sharon Whitlock Young and leaves behind several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Atchley, her parents, Tom and Jewel Martin, stepmother Versie Martin, and dear sisters Meredith Martin Gray and Melinda Pritchett.

A woman of unwavering faith, Marilyn was a dedicated member of the Baptist community. She graduated from Sweetwater High School and spent 30 years diligently serving at the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Marilyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in the company of a good book, and she loved her family beyond measure.

Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Marilyn's kindness, resilience, and love for her family will be a lasting legacy that continues to inspire all who were touched by her presence.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm till 7:00pm on January 9, 2024 at Companion Funeral Home's Athens Chapel located at 400 South White Street Athens, TN 37303.
