Margery Cook Simpkins

Obituary
 
Margery Cook Simpkins, 92, a resident of Cleveland passed away on Tuesday October 4, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her family.
 
Margery was born in Newberry County, SC to the late James Pettus Cook and Nancy Cook. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years the Col. G. M. “Buddy” Simpkins Sr. US Army National Guard (Retired) also three brothers Harvey Lee Cook, Jacob Wyman Cook, and Joel Brownie Cook.
 
Margery moved to Cleveland nine years ago from West Columbia, SC where she was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of the Wightman United Methodist Church of Prosperity, SC. and the Asbury Methodist Church in Chattanooga, TN. She helped others thru mission trips to Costa Rica and served her family here at home by being a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker.
 
Margery is survived by one son G. M. “Buddy” Simpkins Jr and wife Kay, two daughters Caroline Simpkins Berk and husband Dean, and Vicki Simpkins Styons all of Cleveland. She is also survived by nine grandchildren G. M. “Buddy” Simpkins III, Matthew Tyler Simpkins, Molly Simpkins Rehyansky, Kathryn Harper Simpkins, Joel Sumner Simpkins, Jennifer Leigh Berk, Sara Elizabeth Berk, Andrew Turner Styons, and Elliot Hamilton Styons, and 5 great grandchildren.
 
The funeral service will be on Thursday October 6, 2011 at 7:00PM at the First Methodist Church 3425 North Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37311 with Pastor Alex Hoffner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 PM prior to the service.
