Margaret Waters

Margaret died peacefully at home November 27, 2023, where she was born July 20,1923.Daughter of the late Roy P. Robinson and Bess Lillard Robinson.

She was preceded in death by step mother Pearl Payne Robinson, husband Robert Macon Waters, son Bobby Waters and daughter-in-law, JoAnn R Waters, brothers Thomas and David W. Robinson and sisters Helen Robinson and Elizabeth R. Holmes.

She is survived by daughter Betty Lynn (Hoyt) Thompson and son David Mack (Verlinda) Waters of Decatur, TN and Patty Marie (Charles) Hill of Lewisburg, TN. Grandsons Tom Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Jon Thompson, David Waters, Robert Waters, Daniel Hill and granddaughter Bethany H Haynie. Great-grandsons Landon Thompson, Luke Thompson, Macon Hill, Lucas Hill, Michael Hill, James Haynie. Great-granddaughters Kirsten Thompson, Ashleigh Thompson Carter, Julia Hill, Audrey Waters, Eleanor Waters and Caroline Waters.

Special Thank You to her caregivers and nurses. She was a 1942 graduate of Meigs County High School and McKenzie Business College. She moved her membership from Decatur Methodist Church to Concord United Methodist Church in1948 where she continued to teach Sunday school and work with the youth. She was active in the Goodfield Circuit WSCS. She was a member of the Lower Concord HDC and later the Decatur FCE, joining in 1950. She was active in PTA 1958-1974 and Band boosters 1969-1974. She was awarded Mother of the Year in1988 by the Meigs-Decatur Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Concord United Methodist Church, 800 Lower Concord Road, Decatur, TN. The family will receive friends at the church from 12-2:30 followed by the memorial service and interment in the Decatur Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Margaret Waters 4-H Camp Scholarship Fund within the Tennessee 4-H Foundation.
