Marcus Jerome Smith

Marcus Jerome Smith age 59, passed away at Athens Starr Regional Hospital on May 3, 2018. Marcus attended Lanes Chapel Church in Niota. He never met a stranger, he loved talking to people. Marcus’s favorite thing was working on cars and working as a welder and laborer until his health failed.
Marcus is preceded in death by his father Manuel Roby and four brothers Chris Smith, Terrance Smith, Ronnie Smith and Timothy Wilkerson.
He is survived by his mother Ella Mae Moore of Athens, sister Nancy (Tony) Moore of Athens, Louisteen Mitchell of Rockledge, FL, brother James (Carolyn) Smith of Madisonville and David Smith of Kentucky, Michael Roby and Ronnie Roby both of Ohio. He is also survived by uncles Jimmy & William Simpson of Athens, Jesse (Vickey) Roby of Athens, Roosevelt (Sorita) Roby of Mississippi and J.C. Roby of Colorado, best friend Brenda Parks, special cousin Leon Dickerson, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home of Athens located at 400 S White Street. A memorial service will follow the visitation time at 2:00 PM with Pastor Luety McDermott officiating.
