Malcolm Ford Purdie, 85, of the Lamontville community passed away March 8, 2019. Mack was born in Ford, VA on October 2, 1933 a son to the late Julian Lemuel and Mary Elizabeth (Ford) Purdie. Mack was well known in Lamontville Community as the owner and operator of Lamontville Store for many years. He also enjoyed raising beef cattle. Mack was preceded in death by a daughter Cynthia Darlene Matthews, five sisters Bernice Vito, Eunice LoSchivo, Faustina Purdie, Gladys Copeland and Barbara Zepp and two brothers Donald Purdie and Robert Purdie. Mack leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 64 years Geraldine Mason Purdie, five sons Bryan and his wife Nell, Kennth and his wife Loretta, Sid and his wife Terri, J.B. and his wife Tina, Alan and his wife Pam brother Raymond Purdie and twin sisters Jean & Jane. Mack also had many grandchildren, great -grandchildren, as well as extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Friday, March 15, 2019 at 8:00 PM at the Short Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 PM until the 8:00 PM service time.
