Maggie Geraldine Works, a beloved member of the Old Fort, TN community, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.
Born on May 9, 1934, in Crandall, GA, Maggie was the cherished daughter of Wayne Hardin and Dessie Hardin. She was a faithful member of the Baptist faith and a devoted member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church, where she found great comfort and joy in her faith. She shared her love of God with everyone around her and was a source of inspiration to all who knew her.
Maggie was a woman of many talents and passions. She had a deep love for her family, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She was also an accomplished quilter, creating beautiful and intricate designs that were admired by all who saw them. Additionally, Maggie had a talent for cake decorating and was known for creating stunning and delicious cakes for all sorts of occasions.
Maggie was preceded in death by her son, Jamie Matthews, and her spouses, S. L. Hogan, Frank Matthews, and Bill Works. She is survived by her loving son, Sammy (Debbie) Hogan; her daughters, Kay (Joe) Brown and Fay (Alan) Snyder; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM-3:00 PM, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Mountain Springs Baptist Church, followed by the service at 3:00 PM. The Reverend Mike Waldroup and the Reverend Scottie Lyles will officiate. Maggie will be laid to rest at the Mountain Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, following the service, with Mitch Baxter, Khristopher Baxter, Eric Flowers, Brent Flowers, Cody Hembree, and Zack Matthews serving as pallbearers.
