Lucinda Summers Smith

February 23, 1931 — June 24, 2023

Back in the early ‘70s, when she was teaching preschoolers, word on the street (at least in her classroom) was that “Miss Cinda knows ALL”. Whether or not the child who coined this term was being completely accurate, this we comprehend for sure: Lucinda (Cinda) Summers Smith knew the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

Now, she sees clearly what previously was only understood by faith. Her race has been run, and she is in the presence of her Lord. Cinda passed quietly from this life to Life Everlasting on Saturday afternoon, June 24th, surrounded by loving family members who had been caring for her during the past several months. She had been under Hospice care in the home of her granddaughter, Joanna and husband Robby Campano. We all share so many fond memories of that season, with 4 generations sharing meals outside on the patio together.

Cinda was born on February 23rd, 1931 to Al and Mildred Summers in Piqua, Ohio. During high school, she met, and later married Rundle Smith. They had 3 children: Brad (wife Tara), Wade (wife Mary Anne, deceased), and Leslie (husband Chris Romig). She has 8 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

Cinda and Rundle had hearts to serve others and they spent many years leading marriage groups and counseling. Based on this experience, they developed a marriage curriculum and joined the staff at Dunklin Memorial Church to lead marriage classes. After Rundle passed away in 2011, Cinda continued on at Dunklin counseling women and teaching inner healing classes for them.

Along with serving others through the above, Cinda loved to open her home to people. She was an amazing cook/baker, created gorgeous flower arrangements, and had a knack for making guests feel welcome and at home. Almost everyone who spent time in her home commented on the peace they would experience there.

All who knew her appreciated her grace-filled demeanor, her keen interest in asking incisive questions of others, and how she never grumbled or complained. She was always others-centered and was eager to lend a hand. Her wit and humor made it so very fun to be in her presence. She will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, August 12th at Dunklin Memorial Church, located at 3342 SW Hosanah Ln, Okeechobee, FL 34974. Service will begin at noon, with a luncheon following the service.
