Luchen Allen Bailey, 84, also known as “pastor, mentor, friend, Grandpa, and Opa “, went home to his Savior on Saturday, April 8, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jewell Bailey; son Randall Bailey and wife Cheryl; daughter Sandy Strickland and husband Dwayne; brother Bill Bailey; granddaughter Kendra Collins and husband Sterling; grandson Dusty Strickland and wife Summer; grandson D’Artagnon Strickland and wife Kellie; granddaughter Dana Jones and husband Albert; granddaughter Jessica Sanderson and husband Conor; and ten great-grandchildren Conner, Caeden, Dahson, Briar, Luchen, Kadison, Ben, Emmason, Cailyn, and Harper.
Luchen devoted his life to his Lord and Savior during which he pastored for 45 years. During that time he pastored churches in California, Arizona, Ohio, Virginia, and was the director of a Christian Serviceman’s Center in Germany. He was the director of the Ministerial Internship Program in California for 20 years, did missionary work in the Philippians and Mexico. In correlation with this he planted one church, built two churches, was the Development Director at West Coast Bible College where he built the Chapel, Library, and Administrative complex at the college.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, at Mount Olive Church of God. The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. prior to service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
