Lloyd D. "Bud" Cline

June 1, 1930 — November 5, 2016

Lloyd D. "Bud" Cline, 86, a longtime resident of this area, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday morning, November 5th, 2016. He was born on June 1st, 1930 in Knoxville, TN, a son of the late Robert & Josie Cline. Bud was a member of Bethel Baptist Tabernacle where he served on the Deacon Board for many years. He retired from Combustion Engineering Company in Chattanooga with forty two years of service. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved building Tennessee Volunteer bird houses. Bud was an honorable discharged veteran of the United States Army after faithfully serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the American Legion and National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson Tanner Cline, one brother Raymond Hendley, and four sisters Eva Case, Edna Farmer, Leona Hobbs and Ruth Dixon.

Bud leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Martha Fain Cline, two daughters Belinda Sherlin and her husband Joel, Connie True and her husband Dwight, two sons Curtis Cline and his wife Penny, Douglas Cline and his wife Robin, seven grandchildren - Holly Edwards (Brandon), Kassidy Moody (Joel), Jamie Pierce (Joby), Jade Disney (Caleb), Skylar Sherlin (Trisha), Duran Sherlin (Trish) and Keeonna Sherlin, and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members, church family, and a host of special friends.

A celebration of Bud's life is planned for Monday afternoon, November 7th, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Bethel Baptist Tabernacle located at 3160 Buchanan Road SW in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Mike Exline, and Reverend Ronnie Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Family Cemetery in Athens, TN and will conclude with full Military Honors. Brandon Edwards, Joby Pierce, Caleb Disney, Joel Moody, Terry Fain, and Chace Allen will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Skylar Sherlin, Duran Sherlin, Austin Sherlin and Wayne Smith.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, November 6th, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bethal Baptist Tabernacle and also one hour prior to the service time on Monday afternoon.
