Linda Gatlin

September 21, 1945 — November 21, 2024

Linda Gatlin, 79, passed away on November 21, 2024, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, known for her warmth, kindness, and selflessness. Linda had a deep love for her family and cherished the time spent with them, always making visits a special occasion. She was a giving, strong-willed woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including crocheting, watching western and Hallmark movies, and spending time in front of the TV.

One of Linda's greatest joys was watching the sky and marveling at the changing seasons, particularly the beauty of the blue sky and the leaves turning color in autumn. She often reminisced about the "good old days" and her childhood, fondly recalling stories of growing up. Her love for the world around her, and her ability to find joy in the smallest moments, made her a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her.

Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, William L. Gatlin Sr.; her parents, William Crisp Sr. and Dorothy Crisp; her sisters, M. Phyllis Howard, Evelyn Crisp, D. Lorene Wells, Sue Ellen Crisp; and her brother, Frank Crisp.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Mingie (Eugene), Mary Blackwell (Johnny), Martha Bratton (Jerry), William Gatlin (Angela), and Rebeckha Edwards (Lamar); her grandchildren, Sheen Posey and Robert "Killer" Cansler, Cassie Waters (Ryan), Beth Miller, Lester Montgomery Jr., Robert Posey Jr., and Tiffany Ogle, Stephen Bannon, and Joshua Torbett (Megan); and her great-grandchildren, Mia Cansler, Jayce Reeves, Juniper Waters, Braden Link, Clowey Miller, L.B. Miller, and Silas Miller.

She is also survived by her siblings, John Crisp (Angela), Marsha Hamm (Billy), Jeanie Marler (Walt), Wanda Chambers, William Crisp Jr. (Shirley), and Tom Crisp Sr.

Linda's love, laughter, and strong spirit will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of the sky she loved so much.
