Leroy Hogan

Obituary
Leroy Hogan, 69, a resident of McDonald, TN was escorted by the angels to claim his place in God’s heavenly kingdom on Sunday, July 15, 2012. Leroy was born in South Pittsburg, TN and a graduate of Kirkman High School in Chattanooga, TN. He was a veteran of the United States Army (MP) and retired from the DuPont Corporation after 33 years of service. He was also a member of the New Horizons Community Church of Calhoun, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Hogan and Palestine Griffin Hogan of South Pittsburg, TN. Grandsons, Christopher Michael Born and Patrick Todd Cannon of Chattanooga, TN and one brother Charles Lester Hogan of Chattanooga, TN.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Wanda Smith Hogan of McDonald, TN, children Lisa Paige Webb and husband Jimmy, and Tammy Born Lacey all of Ooltewah, TN, and Todd Born of Coral Gables, FL., four grandchildren Sarah L. Weir, Gracee J. Webb, Courtney N. Lacey, and Cameron R. Lacey all of Ooltewah, TN, three great grandchildren R. Madison Hinkle, Jayden C. Blair, and Kayleianne J. Gunzenheiser, all of Ooltewah, TN, brothers and sisters, John Hogan, Charlotte Hogan, Patsy Webb, and Karen Chance of South Pittsburg, TN and Gary Hogan of Tunnel Hill, GA and several nieces and nephews.
Leroy was a selfless man that enjoyed simple things in life. Home life with family and friends; taking care of the many animals his wife, children, and grandchildren were always taking in, gardening, working on cars, Nascar and dirt track racing, watching birds and being always on the hunt for that elusive squirrel stealing from his birdfeeders. Leroy was a man few words, but his quiet actions spoke volumes.
The family will receive guests to celebrate and share stories of Leroy’s life on Sunday, July 22 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM with a memorial service at 3:00 PM with Military Honors at Collegedale City Hall located at 4910 Swinyar Drive, Collegedale, TN 37363 with the Reverend Joe Mullins officiating.

The family wishes to acknowledge, with the deepest, heartfelt gratitude, Sonja Owenby, Yyonne Schuman, Cristel Hancock, and Stephanie Johnson of Hospice of Chattanooga for their ceaseless devotion in caring for Leroy on his final journey. They are true servants of God as angels of Comfort.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be sent to the DuPont Community Credit Union c/o Leroy Hogan Fund, P. O. Box 1058, Hixson, TN 37343 in his memory.
