Leroy Head

Leroy "Lee" Head III, aged 54, of Etowah, TN, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord at his home on May 28th, 2024. after an extended illness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lee was born on July 15, 1968 in Williston, Fl, moving with his family to Germany, where his father served in the U.S. military, and returned to Williston in 1980. He graduated from Williston High School in 1987 and Santa Fe Community College with an associate's degree in computer sciences in Gainesville, Fl.., He studied at Central Florida Community College in Orlando, Fl, and while working abroad, completed his studies in criminal investigation through LSU.

Lee had a very interesting career, service as a military contractor and educator in various areas of the world, including, but not limited to Afghanistan, Kuwait, and South Africa. He was fluent in at least 5 languages, and later in life, became an English teacher in Sweden, The Philippines, and Thailand. His last position prior to the onset of his illness was at Kasetart University Kamphaeng Saen Campus in Kamphaeng Saen, Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.

He enjoyed music, and played the saxophone. Lee was also an avid reader, and loved to learn about other countries and cultures through both literature and travel. He was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others.

Lee is survived by his loving mother, Wanda Brewer, of Etowah, TN,, two sons, Matthew Head of Pensacola, Fl.. and Conner Head of Jacksonville, FL., a brother, Ted Head (Margaret), of Etowah, TN, and a sister, Patricia Wheeler, of Williston, Fl..

He is also survived by aunts and uncles Rick (Marlene) Osborn of Etowah, TN,, Joe Osborn of Etowah, TN, Pam (George) Coghill of Morriston, FL, Brenda (Dan) Schwartz of Mount Airy, NC., Robert (Moralee) Head of Cummings, GA., Billy (Ginger) Head of Williston, FL., and Thomas Head of Williston, FL, special friend Aor Petsuda and her daughter Aom of Thailand, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, students, and co-workers, who will greatly miss him.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Head, Jr., and his brother-in-law Darren Wheeler, as well as several aunts and uncles.

The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Amedsys Hospice.

Lee's memory will be cherished by those who knew him. A private memorial will be held for family and close friends at a time and place to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amedsys Hospice.
