Lee James Smith, 89, a resident of Charleston, TN passed away at his home on Monday March 17, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 18, 1924 to the late Harris and Leola Smith. Lee was a lifelong resident of this area and a WWII Veteran with the US Army. He was a member of Boanerges Baptist Church for the past 30 years. He loved being outdoors, gardening, taking care of farm animals and birds.
In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by one son Michael Lee Smith, one grandson Shane Lee Smith, three brothers Ed Smith, G.W. Smith, and Milburn Smith.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Smith, son Ronnie Smith, daughter Marilyn Denise Smith, three grandchildren: Chris Smith (Angela), Jason Smith (Brandy), and Whitney Mieseler, and three great grandchildren: Harrison Smith, Maddie Smith, and Gracie Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday March 21, 2014 at Boanerges Baptist Church located on Boanerges Church RD in Old Fort, TN with Rev. David Disney and Rev. Charles Chethem officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday March 20, 2014 from 5:00-9:00pm at the church.
