Larry Suits, 79, of Cleveland, Tennessee passed peacefully on August 5, 2024, with his daughter by his side. Larry was born on September 12, 1944 to the late Raymond Lee and Retha Green Suits.
He loved sweet tea, horseback riding, and camping with his long-time best friend, Larry Daugherty. Larry started out as a truck driver for both UPS and Kraft Foods but eventually retired from M&M Mars in 2006 and drove a tour bus for Royal Charter for the next 6 years until he decided to stay closer to home to spend time with his grandbabies and care for his wife with dementia. Larry was a graduate of Bradley Central High in 1962. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in January of 1964 and was honorably discharged 6 years later. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post #81. He was a people person and never met a stranger. Larry had a nickname for everyone and could always make you laugh. His family meant everything to him. He was the best daddy.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years, June Suits; daughter, Misty (Jason) West; his grandchildren, Ely West, Ean West, and Emry West; brother, Maurice (Tina) Suits; nephews, Lucas Suits, and Conor Suits; and his special cousins, Doyle Mayton, and Randy Mayton; along with a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone at Brookdale Mount Vernon for taking such good care of Larry the last several months and to the Hearth Hospice nurses for providing outstanding care to Larry and his family during this difficult time.
The family would also like to thank Chad Morgan, a very special caregiver, who sat with Larry day and night, so he was never alone. And a huge thank you to Robbin Oughtred who has become family over the last year while caring for Larry and June. Larry will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Michigan Ave. Cemetery with Ely West, Ean West, Lucas Suits, Conor Suits, Larry Daugherty, Doug Bennett, Jason West, & Randy Mayton serving as pallbearers. Doyle Mayton and Maurice Suits will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
You are invited to share a personal memory of Larry or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
