Larry Lavon Vanpelt

Larry Lavon VanPelt, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2020 at his home in Chickamauga, Georgia.
He was an only child. He was born in Trion, Georgia on April Fool’s Day 1941 to Paul Watson VanPelt and Lydia Mae VanPelt. Paul was a veteran of WWII.
Larry enlisted into the United States Army on July 3, 1956 and was a member of the elite 82nd Airborne Division where he trained at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
He married the love of his life, Julie Mae Davenport, in 1961. They had one child, a son, Arnold VanPelt.
Larry was a Milwright by trade and enjoyed many years of traveling and working with his son.
He enjoyed spending time with his dog Red, riding his golf cart around Chickamauga, reading, watching Fox News, and above all spending time and sharing stories with his beloved family.
Larry is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and wife, Julie.
He is survived by son Arnold VanPelt (Angie), granddaughters Tiffany Evans (Josh), Sasha VanPelt (Dakota), and great grandchildren Aidan, Jacob, Georgia, and Molly Jo.
He was deeply loved by his family. He was truly a man with a heart of gold and he helped everyone he could. Even until the very end he was a fighter. He will be deeply missed.
